Third Grade

Welcome to Third Grade at East Lake!

Hello!  Third Grade is an exciting year filled with many new adventures. We teach and mentor problem solving skills, increased responsibility, and a growth mindset. Topics are explored through an inquiry approach and lessons are navigated through whole group, small group, guided practice, and independent work.  Through a hands on, multi-strategic approach, third graders continue to grow and deepen their mathematical understanding while embracing mistakes as a part of the learning process. Our first unit of study has a community approach focusing on establishing a strong, safe, friendly, and flexible learning environment to carry us through the year. Students will also explore several units of study, exploring topics such as the solar system, animal adaptations, ancient civilizations, and the movement of sound and light.
