District 196 planning for elementary return to in-person learning per state guidance

Governor Walz announced a change in the state’s Safe Learning Plan to allow a phased-in return of elementary students to in-person learning. We are excited to be able to bring elementary students back to in-person learning five days a week beginning January 21, 2021. Grades preK-2 will return on Thursday, January 21 and grades 3-5 will return on Thursday, February 4.

196 Digital Academy

The 196 Digital Academy will continue to be an option for any family who wants their child enrolled in a full-time distance learning program for the second half of the school year.

Students will stay enrolled in their current learning model (The 196 Digital Academy or the base learning model, formerly hybrid) unless they requested a change. The school may need to adjust staffing to align with families’ enrollment choices, which could impact current class assignments. Students who opt to change learning models will most likely be assigned a new teacher. All placements will remain through the end of the school year.
